Product Description

Overview

The TOXU TX-G028 is an outdoor active GPS timing antenna designed to receive compatible satellite signals operating at 1575MHz.

It is suitable for communication base stations, time-synchronization equipment, GPS reference systems, marine navigation infrastructure, monitoring stations, and other fixed outdoor receiving applications.

The antenna provides a specified typical zenith gain of 38dBic and a nominal output impedance of 50 ohms. Its output VSWR is specified as no more than 2.5.

The active circuit operates from 4V to 6V DC with current consumption below 45mA. Bias power is normally supplied through the RF connection by a compatible GPS receiver, timing module, or external bias-tee circuit.

For outdoor deployment, the TX-G028 features an IP67-rated enclosure, IEC 61000-4-5 surge protection, IEC 61000-4-2 Class 3 ESD immunity, and specified resistance to wind speeds up to 140km/h.

The dome-style enclosure measures approximately 96mm in diameter and 112mm in total height according to the supplied dimension drawing. The lower connector section shown in the drawing is approximately 33mm long.

The TX-G028 is an active antenna only. It receives and amplifies compatible GPS signals but does not calculate position, generate timing output, or replace a GPS receiver or timing module.

System Integration

The TX-G028 must be connected to a compatible GPS receiver, timing module, synchronization device, reference receiver, or other equipment supporting reception at 1575MHz.

The antenna requires 4–6V DC bias power with sufficient current capacity. Bias power is normally supplied through the RF cable by the connected receiver or a compatible external bias-tee circuit.

Before connection, confirm the receiver’s antenna-bias voltage, available current, input impedance, active-antenna detection, short-circuit protection, and RF input requirements.

Use a compatible 50-ohm coaxial cable assembly. Cable type and length should be selected according to the installation distance because coaxial-cable insertion loss can reduce the signal level delivered to the receiver.

Install the antenna with the upper radome facing the sky and provide the clearest practical sky view. Avoid nearby metal structures, walls, roofs, transmitting antennas, motors, high-current cables, and other potential sources of blockage, reflection, or electromagnetic interference.

The IP67 rating applies to the antenna enclosure under the specified product configuration. The mating connector, cable joint, mounting interface, grounding system, and complete installation must also be correctly sealed and protected.

IEC 61000-4-5 surge immunity does not replace a complete site-level lightning-protection system. Exposed outdoor installations may require external surge arresters, professional grounding, and additional lightning-protection measures.

Final signal reception, timing performance, waterproofing, surge protection, and mechanical reliability should be verified on the completed equipment and installation.
